On Saturday February 20, Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge invites individuals to volunteer and conduct trail maintenance at Warbler Vista. Work will begin at 9:00 am. Work and lunch will conclude around 1:30 pm.
We need folks over 18 years old to use hand tools to haul and apply bark mulch on trail surfaces. General trail maintenance will be performed as well. The Central Texas Trail Tamers will supervise and instruct volunteers what to do and how to use the tools.
A free BBQ lunch is provided. Some water and drinks will be available. However you should bring your own drinking containers. Also, be sure to bring your sturdy outdoor foot wear and hat!
To get to Warbler Vista from the Lago Vista High School, go 1.2 miles west on FM 1431 and turn right. To get to Warbler Vista from the west, go eastbound another 3.5 miles from refuge headquarters on FM 1431. Volunteers should gather at the main parking lot just on top of the hill around 8:45 am.
Please call Rob Iski at (512) 339-9432 x 70 by February 12 if you would like to volunteer. By calling in advance, we will know how much food and drink to order and purchase.
