Friends of Balcones Canyonlands NWR are excited to bring this event to everyone at no charge! This has been one of our most popular events of all time!

Saturday. September 19, 9:30 am - noon at Doeskin Ranch, rain or shine, in the new pavilion.

From 9:30 am -12 pm, come join Afroherp (AKA Daniel Carter) for an opportunity to learn about native reptiles.  Bring the kids! He will be showing some of his turtles, snakes, salamanders and lizards, while discussing their unique characteristics and explaining about their importance to our habitat. This event is an informal "come and go" or "open house" format.  So come on out to Doeskin, learn a little about our native herps and then enjoy being out at the refuge with a hike, a picnic or a bit of birding.

Here is a YouTube video of Daniel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htA7i4UTnYA

Registration is required and this event is limited to 40 people.

Registration is open now to members of Friends of Balcones NWR.

If there are any spaces left, registration will open to the general public Thursday, September 3.

REGISTER EARLY! When this event was held last year it set an attendance record for the most people ever to attend a FOBCNWR event!

If you are not a member, you can join Friends of Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge here: https://www.friendsofbalcones.org/Join-Us

PLEASE NOTE: WE WILL ADHERE TO CDC GUIDELINES FOR THIS EVENT AND EVERYONE ATTENDING WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK AND MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING.
