#OptOutside of Black Friday

Join us for an "Opt Outside" hike on Black Friday, November 27 from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm at Doeskin Ranch on RR 1174. We will start with the 0.6 mile Creek Trail.  It’s an easy-to-moderate hike through grasslands, and along the north end of the creek.  You’ll see lots of diverse habitat and plants.  Then if you’re up for it, you can continue to hike with us south along the creek, up the hill, circling the ridge along the Rim Rock Trail.  It’s a total of 2.2 miles with lovely hill country views through old growth cedar and oak savanna.  We have two Master Naturalists backed up by two members of the Trails Committee who will be leading the hikes this year.

Note: Registration will be limited to 30 people. Registration is now open for Friends of Balcones NWR only.

If any spaces remain, non-members can register on or after Tuesday, Nov. 17.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION!

We will be following CDC Covid 19 protocols. MASKS ARE REQUIRED! Each hike will be limited to 10 persons per CDC Guidelines, but we intend to have several hikes to accommodate everyone who wishes to participate.

As always, bring plenty of water, bug spray, and sunscreen.

Some phone-based GPS’ will not work in this area. A printable map can be found here.
