Bluebonnets & PaintbrushThough the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge was created to protect two endangered species; the Golden-cheeked Warbler and the Black-capped Vireo, it is also a migratory stopover in the Central Flyway. Painted Buntings, Yellow-breasted Chats and the ubiquitous Roadrunner are some of the 106 species seen last year.

In addition to birds, Spring in the Texas Hill Country offers a mosaic of wildflowers like the Texas Bluebonnet and Indian Paintbrush.

The Balcones Songbird Festival offers intimate tours of 12 birders lead by 2 experienced guides.  Tours run in the mornings while the afternoons can be spent at local birding sights, local wineries or touring the beauty of the Hill Country.
