Photography Guided Hike at Martin Tract

Discover the beauty, history, and natural wonders of Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge on the Martin Tract Guided Hike and practice your photography. This 2.9-mile hike follows an old two-track ranch road through the Texas Hill Country, offering long-ranging views and opportunities to explore the plants, wildlife, geology, and habitats that make the refuge unique. With approximately 300 feet of elevation gain, the trail features a combination of smooth and rocky surfaces with several short, steeper inclines. The route is mostly unshaded and is considered a moderate-level hike, making it an excellent introduction to the refuge for new to intermediate hikers who are comfortable walking on uneven terrain and moderate inclines.
